Photographer & Designer
Brief Background
I became fascinated with photography working for my first large design firm in a semi-industrial area in Sydney for the Beyond International group. There was little to do there in lunch breaks except sit in a park to relax, or right across the road was Sydney's largest professional photographic supplier. Being quite cashed up and not extremely frugal with money at the time, the store became the primary destination for lunch time breaks.
Also nearby, and I'll assume due to the location of the photographic supplier across the road, was the primary digital imaging lab serving the advertising and photographic industry in Sydney. These were still the days of digital infancy, and my personal interest was sparked by shooting off rolls of film and waiting patiently for the results from the lab. The anticipation waiting for film to be developed was extremely addictive (and lost today) and there is no photographic education quite like ruining an entire roll of film through error and blowing $30 on costs.
As a pastime I still shoot rolls of black and white film, and develop them myself in a small studio space. Anyway, that's my short story and how I began to love photography.
